VALENCIA DELIVERS A DREAM CHAMPIONSHIP ONE-TWO FOR TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI

The light but consistent rain was the key factor in today’s final race day of the 2018 Moto3 season. On these slippery track conditions, Team Del Conca Gresini had a lot to cheer for as the 2018 Moto3 World Champion Jorge Martin claimed second place two positions ahead of who turned out to be the eventual runner-up this year – his team mate Fabio Di Giannantonio.

The encounter itself was an elimination race – with at least 15 crashes, two of which happened to the other contender for the runner-up spot Bezzecchi. These setbacks paved the road to Diggia’s well deserved second place in the championship. The Italian, who still regrets not being able to take the fight to the title up to the last race, can still be happy with his overall result.

There is not much else to say – that has not been said yet – about Martin, who claimed his 10thpodium of the season after showing great maturity on track. Jorge took advantage of a slight mistake by Diggia and made sure to consolidate his second place as the race reached the final laps.

An incredible season draws to a close with Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio both making their way into Gresini Racing’s history books. The team wishes both riders all the best for their future careers.

2nd– JORGE MARTIN #88 – WORLD CHAMPION
“The goal was to finish on the podium. It wasn’t easy given our starting position but I did all I could to get back to the front without taking too many risks. Diggia and I had a good pace and I capitalised on his mistake to pull away and seal second place. I’m really happy for the team: we won it all this year and I’m especially happy because Fausto deserved it. I hope the team will keep winning in the future. Thank you so much.”

4th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – RUNNER UP
“I’m really happy: at the beginning I managed to pass a lot of riders, but the race was tough. Once I saw that Bezzecchi had crashed out, I tried to control proceedings. When I had that moment on corner exit I decided to just go for the points I needed and as soon as I was told that fourth place was enough, that’s all I cared about. We are vice-champions and I would like to thank the team for this amazing year.”
